Not All Who Wander Are Lost

Stuck in Limbo: A Personal Journey to Sweden

Alright, folks, time to get personal (and maybe a bit dramatic). I’ve dipped my toes in Swedish waters before—short visits, no sweat. My old boss was as chill as a Swedish summer day. But now, with a new management crew at the helm, my dreams of long-term remote work in Sweden got the big ol’ “nope.” I even threw in an appeal for short-term approval, but honestly, I’m not holding my breath (I might need that air for a future Viking chant or something).

And let’s not even get started on the resident permit saga—I’m beginning to think it’s auditioning for a reality show titled “The Longest Wait.” Meanwhile, I’m left yearning for my husband, and let me tell you, living apart? It’s like trying to enjoy a meatball without the lingonberry sauce—just wrong!

Missing him is tough; it’s like walking around with a gaping hole in my heart. The everyday moments we take for granted—morning coffee chats, post-work decompressing, or just sharing the comfortable silence—those are the things I crave. Instead, we’re stuck in a digital limbo, navigating video calls and countdowns like we’re training for the Olympics of Long-Distance Relationships. Spoiler alert: no amount of FaceTime can replace the real deal.

Some days, it feels like an emotional weightlifting competition, and let me tell you, I’m not winning any gold medals here. It’s not just about missing him; it’s about feeling incomplete, like a jigsaw puzzle missing that one crucial piece. I’m just waiting for the day we can finally bridge this gap and stop living in this emotional limbo. Until then, fingers crossed and a little patience (and a lot of Swedish meatballs) will have to do!
