Ready, Set, Pink! Prepping for My Swedish Embassy Interview

Interview with the Swedish embassy next week—gulp! I’m fully committed, right down to the details: signature pink outfit (my old sales manager swore it’s my lucky color), passport ready, $250/night Airbnb secured, and plane ticket to D.C. in hand. Åh, and let’s not forget my trusty companion: a healthy dose of nerves. Check, check, and check.

This week, as I prep for my resident permit interview, my anxiety is at an all-time high (though, to be fair, I’m naturally prone to panic over things like forgetting my husband’s brother’s birthday—wait, should I actually memorize that?). Everyone says, “Just be yourself and speak from the heart,” but I’m over here wondering if they’ll ask for his second cousin’s shoe size.

But seriously, it feels like I’ve been waiting my whole life for this moment. I met my husband in 2022, and since then, we’ve been inseparable—talking for hours every day and racking up those Sweden stamps in my passport like it’s a sport. Fingers crossed this interview’s the next step toward making Sweden my new home!
